Hi, I'm Aimee! I'm a wife, mother to an angel baby and one earthside baby, social worker, and professionally trained doula serving Rochester, MN. I love all things health and wellness, including crossfit, nutrition, and womens health. In my free time I also love being creative through painting and drawing.
The Iris Doula came about after I went through miscarrying our first baby and then getting pregnant with our rainbow baby. Iris, pronounced er-es in Spanish, actually means rainbow. When thinking about what to name my doula business, it felt like the best way to honor such an influential season and reason why I decided to be a doula.
After getting through the first half of my pregnancy, I knew I wanted a home birth. I wanted to feel prepared and also had a desire to start supporting other women through this season, so completing my doula training seemed like the best way to do both of those things!
I completed my doula training through a certified DONA training course to become a professionally trained doula in January of 2024 and have since completed all requirements to become certified through DONA International. I have learned a lot through attending births at both Mayo Clinic and Olmsted Medical Center, as well as having a home water birth myself. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with expecting moms and families!
I believe birth is one of the most profound and influential experiences in life! I believe that birth can be beautiful, peaceful and powerful. Your experience does not need to look how society often depicts it to be. I am here to empower you in making the right decisions for you and your baby and having the best labor and delivery possible!
